Test Taking Tips for Students:
1. Inspect Directions
Pay careful attention to ALL directions...they may change
Read them carefully
2. Use the NESA tools IF you find them helpful
Highlight, Underline, Stikeout tool, etc.
3. Slash the trash
Eliminate answers you know are not correct, then evaluate what is left to
make the best decision.
4. Stay focused, Don't rush, Pace yourself
DON'T BE A TURTLE, DON'T BE A RABBIT, BE A "TURBIT!"
5. Read every possible answer
6. Read questions BEFORE reading the passage so you know what information
to pay attention to.
7. Read each question carefully
8. Reread! "Be nice, read twice!" ... or more! You will never learn less by
reading more than once.
9. Check to make sure you answered all of the questions
10. LOOK BACK and be sure you didn't make a "silly mistake" like reading the question incorrectly,or selecting the answer you did not want.
